The thing to keep in mind is if you do buy your older parents a reading tablet for the holidays that you simply just don’t hand it to them, but instead help them set it up and explain how they get books or their magazines. If you don’t help them in the beginning to set it up and explain it to them you may just find they never use it.

*Luxury Blanket or Sheet Set*

Most of the time you’ll find that the older generation won’t splurge on luxury purchases like a very good quality sheet set or even a luxury blanket to wrap up in during the cold winter months.

Although this may not be something your parents absolutely need it can be nice to spoil your parents and give them nicer things you know they wouldn’t buy for themselves.

For sheets something like 1000 thread count 100% Egyptian cotton would be a good pick and even though they may be more expensive than most sheet sets you can find some for a good price when on sale.

If your older parent still lives independently at home, then consider buying them a month or more of house work help or yard work help.

A lot of companies also have gift certificates available that you can buy instead of having to pay for the actual services as well. This way your parents can choose when they actually want to use the services.
