Toy advent calendars are great for kids when it comes to counting the days down to Christmas. It can be a fun tradition to check out the calendar every morning and you can work in some sort of lesson or fun fact about Christmas as well.
In our house we have had a few different toy advent calendars and my kids have enjoyed every one of them. There actually are so many different advent calendars that you can choose from that feature all different types of toys for kids.
Every year I buy each one of my kids a different Advent calendar and most have been toy ones. I like the toy ones because you just don’t get the countdown aspect but you get toys your child can continue to play with even throughout the year.
Check out some the best toy advent calendars for kids for this Christmas season. There are ones for kids of all ages.
One of the most popular types of advent calendars for kids are LEGO toy ones. In fact, adults love them as well.
I have bought my boys the Lego Advent calendars for the past few years and even my almost-teen still loves getting the mini-figures and builds.
Check out the new LEGO Advent Calendars for 2019 including the LEGO Friends and the LEGO City sets.
LEGO City Advent Calendar 2019 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar 2019
There are more than just the 2 LEGO calendars above as well.
This year there is a new LEGO Harry Potter Advent calendar as well as a Star Wars Advent Calendar from LEGO .
LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2019 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2019
These specific LEGO sets are great for fans of all ages. Families will even enjoy opening these up each day to see what cool piece they got from their favorite movie.
LEGO does come out with a new advent calendar every year but there is nothing wrong with using a calendar from the past years.
They are not dated with a specific year so your child would never know. Sometimes you will find that the calendars from years past are cheaper in price than the current year.
Or you can even choose to get the current year LEGO calendar and then a different one so 2 of your kids don’t get the exact same one.
Here are a few more choices for LEGO toy Christmas countdown calendars for kids.
LEGO Friends 41102 Advent Calendar LEGO City Advent Calendar 60155
The nice thing about these advent calendars is that you can re-use the pieces year after year to make your own Christmas sets and scenes.
In fact if you get the building block calendars for a few years your child can have their very own LEGO Christmas village with all their favorite characters and accessories.
My kids still play with the Christmas pieces and minifigures all year long and just add them right into their regular bin of LEGOs as well.
Another great option for a toy advent calendar for your child is the Playmobil advent calendar. Just like the LEGO ones, they have different scenes and designs for the calendars to choose from.
What I really like about the Playmobil calendars is that there are ones that have all different themes not just Christmas related ones. There are ones with Santa and a holiday theme but you also have a dress up party one, a police one, and even a horse barn one.
There are some people who like the Playmobil ones better than the LEGO ones because you also get a backdrop with the advent calendar and they are usually cheaper as well.
These calendars have a backdrop along with other parts of the scene that you build and then have 24 special little toys that you add for every day up to Christmas.
Here are a few different Playmobil advent calendars to choose from.
Christmas Post Office Royal Ice Skating Trip Police Detective Scene Horse Farm
I came across a few more new toy filled Advent calendars for counting down the days to Christmas this year.

This is another really fun Advent calendar for kids as it features the characters from the new Grinch movie released last holiday season.
Of course most kids are familiar with the Grinch but this particular calendar is directly from the new cartoon movie. This would be a cool treat to add onto a special day of watching the movie at home with your kids.
You get 14 ornament sized figures from the movie including the exclusive Baby Grinch. You also get 11 accessories to go along with the figures to make your own Whoville play set.
The calendar even doubles as a pretty display background straight out of the movie.

If you have a younger child, this may just be the best toy advent calendar for toddlers.

In fact this would make a great first Advent calendar for kids.

This kid’s advent calendar could even be a good way to introduce counting and numbers as well as celebrate the holidays.

This is another Funko pop calendar, but this one features different Fortnite characters from the game.
These figures can be displayed all year long or your child may even enjoy playing his own Fortnite battles with the figures.
This is another good option for older kids or even teens who enjoy playing some Super Mario. This is anther new Advent calendar for kids in 2019.

RYAN’S WORLD Pizza Advent Calendar
If you have a kid between the ages of 3-7, you most likely have heard of Ryan’s World. Well, this year, your kid can be just like Ryan and have their very on toy Advent calendar.
It features 24 different surprises including figures, accessories and even slime.
This is a new countdown calendar for 2019 and is sure to be a popular one with the younger kids who love Ryan.
There are actually a few different Barbie toy advent calendars. Barbie usually comes out with a new and fun calendar each Christmas season, but you can also use the past calendars because they don’t have any specific dates on the calendar. Pick which one you think your child would like best.
The calendar option seen below is the new one for 2019 and features some really fun outfits and accessories and even some cute pet friends.
What is different starting with two years ago is that the calendar actually comes with a Barbie doll on the first day that can be used for all the clothing and accessories you get from the calendar. This is a big improvement as the other calendars do not come with a doll and you have to use your own.
My daughter actually had the Barbie calendar from 2017 (which is the first one to offer a doll on the first day) and she loved it. She would dress the Barbie up in the complete outfits and really enjoyed seeing what career Barbie was going to be next.
PEPPA’S Countdown to Christmas Calendar
Peppa and her family and friends are getting in on the holiday celebration with an adorable calendar that any Peppa Pig fan would love to get.

The calendar folds out to make a playset scene to place the figures on and can be used to play with after the holidays as well.
This is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who love Peppa as well as even younger kids who may not even be introduced to this cheeky pig yet.
Celebrate your child’s creative side with this fun art calendar set.
There is over 24 different pieces that you get with this calendar including 2 model magic ornaments you can make as well as other ornaments and even Christmas finger puppets.
There is also gift tags, a letter to Santa for your child to write and more art accessories including crayons, markers, and paint to help your child decorate all their stuff.
What I like about this kids advent calendar set is that it encourages different activities that they can do for the holiday instead of just opening up a window and finding a toy.
Schleich is a great company who makes wonderful toys to help kids learn and grow as well as get creative and use their imagination. They are widely known for their animal figures as well as other figures like mermaids and unicorns.
They just recently released a few different types of Advent calendars, which are simply beautiful.
Schleich Farm World Advent Calendar Schleich Horse Club Advent Calendar
This company is known for their quality toys as these aren’t your typical, cheap plastic figures. That being said, these calendars do tend to run a bit more than most other ones.
You’ll receive 24 different items to open in the calendar. For example in the farm world you get several farm animals as well as accessories like food.
There is even a new, cool dinosaur Advent calendar as well.
This new calendar would be awesome for any dino fan who not only loves dinosaurs but wants to learn more about them as well.

One really important tip that I offer to parents looking for toy Advent calendars for kids is to buy early!
This is especially true if you are looking to buy one of the new calendars for this year, because they will sell out quickly.
I learned this several years ago when I first started buying these toy calendars and couldn’t find a LEGO advent calendar in any of the stores anymore. Now I buy as soon as I see them for sale so we don’t miss out.
The neat thing about these countdown calendars is that you can use them in conjunction with some other family Christmas traditions.
For example, if your family does Elf On A Shelf, your elf friend can bring the calendar to your child to help them countdown the days until Santa arrives. This would be a fun way to incorporate both holiday traditions to get your child excited about.
Toy advent calendars for kids are a great way to count down the days until Christmas and can be the perfect way to start a holiday tradition that your children can pass onto their own as they grow up.
I know that my kids (even as they grow older) always wake up looking forward to their new surprise for the day. In fact, most of the time we have to do the calendars first thing before even eating breakfast or getting ready for school because they can’t concentrate on anything else!
If you have younger kids, then be sure to check out my post on Advent calendars for toddlers as well.

There are a few different ways that you can safely put Christmas lights on your roof, but stapling is not one of them.
You may have seen the classic “Christmas Vacation” movie in which Clark Griswold uses his staple gun to make his whole house and roof shine from miles away with Christmas lights. But in real life extreme caution should be taken if you insist on using a staple gun to attach the lights.
There are a few reasons why I don’t recommend you staple your lights to your roof.
The number one reason why you shouldn’t use a staple gun to attach your lights to your roof is because you can ruin your shingles. Even the smallest hole in your shingles can cause a leak under the shingles. That means eventually water can get underneath and potentially into your home.
Even if the holes from the staples don’t let water in, the staples can weaken the shingles making them more prone to damage during inclement weather as well. That means when a thunderstorm rolls around you may just find shingles flapping in the wind.
Most singles are made to last anywhere from 20-30 years but if you start putting holes and staples in them you’ll find out that they won’t last even half that amount of time.
Unless you have several thousands of dollars to spare for a new roof, it’s probably not a good idea to staple anything onto your shingled roof.
Another thing to consider before stapling your Christmas lights is causing damage to the cord on the lights as well.
You would never want to put a metal staple anywhere near an exposed cord as this is a complete fire safety hazard. A metal staple can easily send an electric current through your roof and home when exposed to electricity like that.
If you have used Christmas lights before you probably know that there are some cheaper ones where you will find exposed cord even before you put them up on your house.
It’s better to play it safe and keep your roof in good condition and use clips or other accessories to hang your lights. You’ll find that there is a way to hang lights on your roof no matter what it is made of without having to resort to a staple gun.
Recommended Universal Light Clip
If you have a shingled roof or you plan on hanging your lights from the gutter, your best bet is to hang your lights with a universal light clip .
These clips can be attached to either the shingles or on the gutter without causing damage. They can also hold a variety of different lights from icicle lights to regular C7 or C9 strands.
The neat thing about these clips is that you can even easily remove them from the shingles or gutter and leave them on the cord strand so they are all set and ready to go next year.
You can usually buy these light clips for pretty cheap as a 100 pack usually will cost you around $10 (or sometimes less on sale). Compare this price to potentially having a leak in your home from putting staples in your shingles and you will gladly spend the money on clips.
If you have a metal roof, there are also magnetic clips that you can use to attach the lights as well. They are a simple magnets that sticks to the roof and then you simply slide the lights into place on the front of the clips.
If you do have a metal roof, check out my other ideas on how to hang Christmas lights from metal .
So, although, yes, you can staple your Christmas lights to your roof, it is really not advised at all. Not only will you find that professional roofers don’t recommend you do this but it can also be a safety hazard to your home and family as well.
So, put your staple gun away this holiday and instead get some clips and make your outdoor Christmas light display safer and better.

Although some toppers may be too heavy for some trees, there are a few different ways in which you can anchor your Christmas Tree topper so it stays upright in the exact spot you want.
These fixes work great for most tree toppers whether they just don’t want to sit straight or if you have kids or pets that tend to knock the topper loose.
Stop struggling with your tree topper when decorating your Christmas tree and instead learn how to get your Christmas tree to stay on your tree properly.
If you have a fake Christmas tree you may only need a quick fix that takes a few seconds to get your topper on your tree.
Basically you want to take as many branches as possible from the top of the tree and really pack them into the base of the tree topper.
This helps to stabilize the topper instead of just having one or two branches that don’t fill up the whole base of the topper.
If you don’t like the look of this way you can also try to bend the branches in half to give a wider base for the topper as well.
This can also work for some real Christmas trees depending on the thickness of the tree at the top.
This quick fix may work for some tree toppers but there are still some that really need to be anchored down instead, so I have more solutions as well.
If you are still having trouble with your topper staying on your tree, you can use some different items to help anchor it to the tree and you won’t even be able to tell.
The first thing I recommend is floral wire. The green floral wire will blend right into the tree and you won’t even notice that it is tied onto the branches of the tree.
The nice thing about floral wire is that it doesn’t cost a whole lot and it can be used for other craft projects around the house as well.
**I recommend this super inexpensive spool of floral wire .
You can also use a strong twine or jute to keep the topper in place as well. With this you may be able to see parts of the twine but you can easily cover with your garland and ornaments.
All you have to do with the wire or the twine is simply tie it onto the base or cone of the topper in two different spots and allow for enough wire to hang down so that you can tie it onto the branches of the tree.
When tying the wire or twine to the tree go down several branches so that you can make sure you get a secure anchor. You can send the wire through the middle of the tree by the trunk or you can go down the back if no one will see it back there.
Simply, make sure you get a good, secure knot on the branches on each side of the topper so that it stays upright and secure on top of the tree.
As mentioned, you can always use ornaments, garland, or a bow to hide the twine if needed. You probably will not even notice the green floral wire but you can also use decorations to hide that as well.
Village Lighting Company Tree Topper Holder
Another good option for getting your Christmas tree topper to stay on and keeping it straight is using a good tree topper holder.
Not every holder is made the same though as I have come across some that don’t work any better than what the tree topper does.
I recommend the Twist-On Tree Topper Holder from Village Lighting Company .
Although this option is more expensive than using the floral wire, the holder can be used with different topper designs year after year. Plus, with this holder you don’t have to mess around at the top of your tree trying to wrap the wire around.
Of course, the holder is not that expensive and actually cost less than what most toppers cost.
It can be used on both artificial and live Christmas trees as long as the top is less than 1.25 inches in diameter.
It is made with a spiral design that simply screws on to your top tree trunk branches. It then has mix and match attachments to fit just about any style of topper.
This does a good job at securing and stabilizing your topper so you not only get a straight position but you don’t have to worry about it toppling over with any movements.
There are people who have stated that this holder even works well for anchoring heavy Christmas tree toppers.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when choosing your tree topper is to make sure you don’t buy a topper that is too heavy or big for the size of your tree.
Even if you use the floral wire or the topper holder, a topper that is too heavy and can’t be supported by your tree just won’t stay in place.
If you have a miniature tree under 4 feet pick a topper that is on the lighter and smaller side. If you have a tree that is 5 feet tall or larger most toppers (unless really heavy or large) should be okay.
Even some of the best Christmas tree toppers need a little help every once in awhile especially with real Christmas trees that may not have even top branches.
If you pick a tree topper that isn’t unusually heavy, then the floral wire or the topper should make placing your tree topper on your Christmas super simple.
Not sure what tree topper to choose from for your tree? Check out some of my ideas for tree toppers:

Most Christmas light clips are made to be attached to either gutters or to a shingled or tiled roof that allows you to slip them underneath. With a metal roof you are not able to do this so those traditional clips won’t work for holding your lights.
What you need to do is to get the best Christmas light clips for a metal roof and make sure your lights will stay in the place and look beautiful all season long.
My recommendation for your metal roof or even metal gutters are the specially made magnetic light clips.
You can buy these clips for Christmas lights in either C7 size or C9 size so you still have some variations in the types of lights you can hang on your home.
The clips feature strong magnets on the back that withhold the weather.
The front part features a simple clip to hold the string of lights in place.
The cool thing about these clips is that they can be used not only with metal roofs but can also work great on metal gates, fences, or metal gutters as well.
Being that they are magnets they are really simple to take off when you are ready to take down your Christmas lights as well.
Another plus of using these light clips is that you don’t have to worry about getting up on the metal roof to hang the lights. If you have a metal roof you may know just how slippery this type of roof can be.
These magnetic clips are more expensive than the cheap Christmas light clips for regular roofs that simply just hook under the shingles but that is due to having the magnet on the back. They one of the only few ways that you can hang lights on metal roofs.
If you do want to save some money and try an alternative to these magnetic clips, I do have another great recommendation as well.
Another option that will work with most metal roofs is using heavy duty magnetic hooks to hold the strands of lights in place.
These hooks can be placed on the roof line and then you simply wrap the cord around them so that it stays in place. Once wrapped around one hook securely you can place another hook where needed to get the desired look of the lights.
With these types of hooks though you don’t get the actual lights to stay in place but instead you are holding the cord in place. Then, you can adjust the lights to your liking so that they fall straight in line.
This does take a bit more work than simply place the lights in the clips, but people have found these hooks work better in extreme weather situations.
Keep in mind that most people find that these hooks work better in holding the lights into place as some of the light clips can be cheap and end up breaking since they are made of plastic. The hooks can support more weight and tend to be more heavy duty.
Also, using these hooks may end up being cheaper in the long run because these hooks can be used for all sorts of things besides just Christmas lights.
Both the clips and the hooks can work for hanging Christmas lights on metal siding as well, so keep that in mind as well.
If you are looking to hang icicle lights on your metal roof you won’t be able to use the magnetic light clips shown above but you can still use the magnetic hooks to get your icicles on your house.
You can use the technique of wrapping the cord around the hooks as this can work well if you can strategically place the hooks in between the icicles hanging down. It may take some more time and patience but is definitely doable.
If you are looking to hang icicle lights, I really recommend you check out my DIY clip idea below as it works great for these types of lights.
Another idea to hang Christmas lights on metal is to DIY it and make your own magnetic clips to hold the lights in place.
You would need medium size binder clips and a hot glue gun for this project. Glue the magnets on the back of the binder clips ( I recommend good binder clips to hold the magnet) and allow them to dry completely before attempting to use.
You can even skip one of these steps and check out these cool adhesive back magnets that don’t require a glue gun to get them to stick to the binder clips.
Once you have your magnetic clips made, then you would just simply place the magnet to the metal and run the light cord through the clips. Simply make sure to place the bulbs outside of the clips to get the best results.
Once you are ready to hang your Christmas lights, it’s actually quite simple if you have bought the magnetic light clips or have even made your own.
All you have to do is place the clips on the roofline or the metal gutters and string the lights across where you want them to go.
Continue using the clips or hooks every so often so that the lights stay tight against the roof.
Some people may find that they need to clip every light into place but for some other people you may only need to clip every other light.
Remember to test out your strings of light before you start hanging them to ensure that they work properly .
This can save you a ton of stress if you hang a string of lights that doesn’t work.
Lastly, be sure to be safe while hanging the lights if you are going to be up on a ladder. Have another person available to help you hold the ladder and pass the clips up to you when needed to make the job safer and quicker.
Just because you have a metal roof doesn’t mean you can enjoy having Christmas lights on your home. Simply use any of these ideas listed above and you will smile every time you come up to your home as it shines bright for the holiday season.

But there are ways that you can happily remember and honor your deceased loved ones to make the holidays joyful again instead of sad and gloomy.
Just by doing some few simple activities you’ll find that you can cherish the memories you had with your loved one rather than just feeling sad about them not being here this year.
Make A Financial Contribution To A Charity In Your Loved One’s Name
Choose a charity or foundation that was near and dear to your loved one. You don’t have to make a huge contribution but you could use the money you may have spent on their Christmas gift this year and instead donate it to something you know they would have supported.
Hang A Memorial Ornament For Your Loved One On Your Christmas Tree
You can either make a special ornament for your loved one or you can choose from some very beautiful memorial Christmas ornaments. This can be a great way to include him or her in the tradition of decorating your tree and just have a little memorial to remember them each holiday season.
These types of ornaments even make nice Christmas gifts for your other family members or friends who may be missing someone as well.
Write A Letter To Your Loved One
If you have anything left unsaid or you simply just want to let your loved one know what may be going on in your life right now, write them a letter. This is actually a really good way to deal with your grief and sort of let go of any unresolved feelings or just let your emotions out.
You can write the letter and then burn it or rip it up afterwards. You can keep it in a safe spot to look back on next year or you can even attach it to a balloon and send it up to Heaven.
Visit Their Grave With A Christmas Wreath or Flowers
Although your loved one may not be here on Earth anymore you can still honor them by keeping their grave site nice and even decorating it for Christmas with a small wreath or little decoration.
It can just be a small way you can help “brighten” up the grave site and let your loved one know you will never ever forget them.
Watch Their Favorite Christmas Movie or Listen To Their Favorite Christmas Songs
Get together with friends or family and celebrate your loved one by watching their favorite Christmas movie.
Or turn on some holiday tunes and reminisce about listening to their favorite Christmas songs together in the past years. You may just feel your loved one surrounding you as you get to relive those wonderful holiday memories.
Reach Out To Other Family Members To Share Memories With
Honor your loved one this holiday and share your memories with other people who loved him or her. You can even get together for a holiday dinner or lunch and cook your loved one’s favorite foods and just celebrate their life.
It can be cathartic to talk about different memories and you may even learn some new things about them from other people.
Consider Donating Some Of Your Loved One’s Items To Less Fortunate For The Holidays
After someone you love has passed away it can be hard to part with any of their belongings, but Christmas times is the perfect time to consider donating some of their items to people who are less fortunate. This way you can feel good that their belongings are helping other people instead of just being tossed away.
Of course you don’t have to get rid of everything as you I would recommend you definitely keep the “special” items but the other belongings can definitively be a help to others during the holidays.
You can even choose to give away some special belongings that they had to other family members or friends who would love to receive the keepsakes as a gift this Christmas.
Volunteer Your Time To Help You Stay Busy This Holiday
Most people find that holidays hit them the hardest when they are at home with not much to do. Instead of having that idle time this holiday season, volunteer to help an organization in your area.
It could be serving meals at a soup kitchen, stocking shelves at a food pantry, helping out at your church, or even volunteering your time at a local animal shelter. You may even find yourself enjoying it so much you choose to volunteer all year long and may even meet some new friends.
Continue On Your Christmas Traditions
Your loved one wouldn’t want you to stop all your Christmas traditions just because they aren’t here on Earth to celebrate with you. Instead, honor his or her memory by continuing on these traditions and even adding new ones that incorporate remembering your loved one into the holiday celebrations.
It can easy to want to stay home and not deal with parties and get-togethers or even decorate for the holiday, but being alone by yourself and not celebrating won’t bring your loved one back. But on the other hand, being with people you love during this time of grief you may just be able to smile and laugh again this holiday.
Embrace the family traditions and you may just feel your loved one’s presence as you go pick out that Christmas tree at your favorite tree farm or as you sit and pray at midnight Mass.
Keep A Gratitude Journal
When you are feeling lost and alone it can be hard to see the positive aspects of your life. But, by keeping a gratitude journal you can really remember how blessed you are in your life.
Each day you should write down at least 2 things that you are really thankful for in your life. It can be anything from a person or place to something small that happened to you that day. This helps you to focus on the positive and allows you to start training your brain to focus less on the negative.
Plus, you can come back and re-read your entries in your jounral for those days that are super hard and tough and you think you don’t have anything to be thankful for.
Frame Pictures Of Your Loved One and Give To Other Family and Friends Who May Be Grieving Along With You
Don’t only surround yourself with pictures of your departed loved one but share photos of him or her with other people who may be grieving over them this holiday as well.
You can even dig up some older pictures to frame and give out as Christmas presents and put a smile on other people’s faces.
Do Something Special For Yourself This Holiday
When you are grieving the loss of a loved one, especially if it was a spouse or close family member it can be hard to want to do anything special for yourself. But, be sure that you take some time out this holiday season and do something for yourself whether something small like getting a manicure or something a bit bigger like spending a weekend away at a bed and breakfast.
You can even do something for yourself that you know your loved one would have liked for you to do whether it is taking that trip to a place you both loved or buying yourself that gift that they have always wanted to buy for you.
Although the holiday season can be tough for anyone who has lost a loved one whether it was their spouse of 30 years or their parent or best friend, there are special ways that you can remember and honor your loved one and bring forth some comfort this Christmas.

If your guy is going to be on deployment during the holidays or is going to be deployed soon after Christmas, the Christmas gifts you choose for your military boyfriend may be a little different.
One of the best gifts for any deployed military person is a care package packed with all of their favorite things as well as essential items. There are some really cute ways that you can make the care package and you can definitely dress it up for Christmas time as well.
Here are some ideas of items to include for your Christmas gift care package for your boyfriend (or any relative or friend who may be deployed during the holidays):
Be sure to check out packing restrictions such as size and weight before you go to mail your box. Also remember that your box is going to be moved around quite a bit and it will take at least 10-14 days to get to your soldier. Pack carefully and try to cushion items as best as possible.
I recommend checking out Military.com for more tips on sending a Christmas care package to your deployed boyfriend.
Stocking stuffers can be used to help complete your gift or even make your man his very own Christmas stocking stuffed with goodies.

The best Christmas gift for your military boyfriend is one that comes from your heart. Of course you know him best so maybe one of the items in the guide sticks out for you while for someone else it may be something different.
Remember to always cherish the time you have together with your partner and make this the best Christmas ever no matter what you buy for him.

It’s always nice to include your pet into your family’s Christmas traditions. I mean, most pets are just another member of your family, right? So, why shouldn’t they have their own Christmas stocking?
I gathered up some of the different dog Christmas stockings to choose from including personalized ones as well as even different dog breed ones. Be sure to check out all the Christmas stockings for dogs to choose the favorite for your pup.
Personalized Christmas stockings are great for anyone in the family including your pet. There is nothing better than seeing all the stockings hung up with everyone’s name right on the front.

Be sure to check out some of the stockings below as some of them offer options for including your pet’s name on the stocking as well.
One of the most popular types of dog stockings that I have seen in the past few years are ones shaped like a dog bone. I think these are so creative and fun and definitely add something different rather than just your normal stocking.
You’ll notice that most of the items below can also be customized with your dog’s name as well.

Another neat dog Christmas stocking that I have been seeing around lately are paw shaped Christmas stockings. Just like the dog bone shaped ones above they offer something different and unique to make your pet’s stocking stand out.

Of course there are going to be several different dog breeds available so I suggest you check out BABarkerGifts on Etsy.com . She has several dog breed stockings available including pug, springer spaniel, black and yellow lab, German shepherd, bulldog, boxer and more.
Check out some examples of the stockings she offers.

If you are looking for a special Christmas gift for your dog, you may want to consider a stocking with toys and treats. You can find a Christmas stocking that can be used again the next year that already comes packed with different dog toys or even some treats for your pup.
You can then use the stocking next year and fill it with your own doggie stocking stuffers or you can simply find another Christmas stocking gift and use a different one each year.
Here are some of the best Christmas stockings with dog toys and treats.

Of course you can always buy one of the dog stockings above and fill it with your own picks of Christmas dog toys . This way you can customize what you want for stocking stuffers with your dog’s favorite toys and treats.
Hanging your dog’s own Christmas stocking in your home is just one way that you can include your pet into your family’s Christmas celebrations. Even if it is just you and your pup or you have a family of 10 people, your dog’s Christmas stocking will always be special to you.
]]>
In fact according to a fun survey by the pet medication company VETIQ , 61% of dog owners rather smooth their dog under the mistletoe this holiday rather than their significant other.
Of course the most important thing about involving your dog in the Christmas festivities is to strike the right balance between spending time with your pooch and making sure you aren’t stressing your pet out. This is why I recommend planning ahead a few dog-friendly holiday activities that you can use to spend time with your pup.
If you consider your pup a part of your family, why not include her in your family Christmas pictures?
Of course you can always include her not only in the picture with the family but you can even include your dog into the color scheme or theme if you have one as well. In fact, last year my cousin sent out the most adorable Christmas card that featured her, her husband and her new pup. Best of all they were all wearing matching Christmas pajamas for people and dogs and sitting in front of their Christmas tree.
Even if you don’t take professional holiday photos or have a picture made into a Christmas card, make sure you do get some pics of your dog with the family so you can have those memories for years to come.
Just like you enjoy some Christmas cookies or special treats during the holidays, let your pup enjoy one here and there as well.
Of course you don’t want to go overboard and completely ruin your dog’s diet, but there are some healthy holiday treats you can make for your pooch. You can have your cookies or dessert during your holiday nights and then let your pup have something different as well.
Jamie over at MyBakingAddiction.com has some great recipes for homemade dog treats that would be perfect for the holidays.
You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a good gift as there are some really great inexpensive Christmas gifts for dogs.
It’s just nice to buy your pup something new for the holidays and simply include her in the presents under the tree. This can even be a cute way to play up a Santa theme with young kids by saying Santa dropped off a gift for your pet as well.
A simple and practical inexpensive gift idea may be something like a Christmas dog toy or even a special rawhide treat.
During the holidays there can be a lot going on. You may have more people over to your home than usual or you may be gone for longer periods of time, leaving your pup alone. With all that said make sure that you take some time to simply unwind and relax with your dog.
Just cuddling with your dog in front of your fireplace or even while watching a Christmas movie in your living room does a lot to calm her nerves as well as makes for a really nice memory for the future.
Dogs can easily get overstimulated and stressed so you want to make sure you keep an eye on your pup to see how she may be reacting to all the holiday chaos.
Start making some traditions with your pet this holiday and get your pooch their own Christmas ornament and stocking for your home.
When we first got our dog I made sure to get her a puppy’s first Christmas ornament and hung it on the tree that year. From that year on, I got an ornament for the dog, carrying over the tradition of buying my kid’s a new ornament each year.
We also like to include our pet into the Christmas stocking tradition we have as she has her very own stocking hanging up over the fireplace with all of the rest of the family. We even fill her doggy Christmas stocking with a few gifts for Christmas morning.
By including your dog into these holiday traditions you just sort of make it know that your pooch is your family and is loved.
When doing any type of celebrating, be sure that you are aware of any items or foods that may be poisonious or toxic to your animal.
For example, some seasonal holiday plants like mistletoe and poinsettias are toxic to animals. You want to keep any of these types of plants away from your pets or simply go with the fake versions for decorating instead.
Also, you need to watch out for certain foods during the holidays as well. This is especialy true if you have kids that may sneak your pup some food or you are planning on having people over who may not know not to feed your dog.
Some foods to be aware of include chocolate, macadamia nuts, and even raisins. You’ll also want to watch out for any food items that your dog may be allergic to as well.
Also, keep any type of turkey bones or duck bones away from your dog as they can pose a choking hazard since the bones can easily sliver off.
Celebrating Christmas with your dog should be a natural thing as your pup is a part of your family. Just try to include your dog in your family traditions and make sure you spend time letting her know how special and loved she is.

I was actually pretty shocked at just how many fun and adorable options there were for holiday pjs for dogs of all sizes. I mean, how fun is it dressing up your puppy in a pj set designed to look like Santa or one that has some fun snowmen all over.
These outfits even work for Christmas pictures with the family and is a cute way to incorporate your pooch into a fun family tradition. There are even matching pajamas for families and dogs.
Here are some pajamas for dogs that I found for this Christmas season.
Blue Santa and Reindeer PJs Check Price At Amazon Red and Green Penguin PJs Check Price At Amazon Reindeer and Santa PJs Check Price At Amazon
How adorable are these these holiday pajamas?
Not only are these pjs super cute but they are also made from soft and comfortable fabric so your dog won’t mind wearing them.
There is an elastic waist on the bottom of the onesies so you simply just have to place them over your dog and onto each paw. They would be perfect for the days leading up to Christmas or for a Christmas family photo shoot.
They are available in sizes x-small up to xx-large. There is a size chart that you can check out to see were your dog falls in size as you can’t just base it on their normal dog clothing size.
**Do be aware though that these run small . You will want to consider sizing up one even after looking at the size chart. This is according to several buyers who used the size chart and the clothing was still too small.
If you have a larger size dog you may want to consider other pajamas for your dog as these are more Christmas pajamas for small dogs and some medium size ones.

You may have seen matching Pajamagram Christmas PJs for the whole family, but did you know that they also make matching pajamas for dogs as well?
I think this idea is so neat that you can dress the whole family in matching Christmas pajamas and even include your pooch in it as well.
I really love the matching Santa suit idea as it would be so neat for mom and dad and then for all the kids as well as for your dog to wear these on Christmas morning. It would even make an adorable Christmas photo for a card with all of you sitting in bed enjoying hot cocoa or sitting my the fireplace with the glow of the Christmas tree.
It’s also perfect for a single person and their dog as well as couple and their pooch to start their own traditions.
For dogs this is available in sizes small, medium and large and x-large.
For kids sizes it starts in infant size and then goes up to adult sizes. It even includes up to a 2Xl for men and a women’s 3XL so you are sure to find sizes for your whole family.
Here are even more options for Christmas pajamas for large dogs as well as small ones.
Most of the items below are from Etsy.com as well as some from Amazon.com. The neat thing about Etsy is that sometimes you can find a seller that will customize the outfit for your dog and may even be able to offer options for larger dog breeds that you may have trouble fitting in normal dog clothing.

These are sure to be a hit for Christmas and can even be worn all winter long to keep your puppy warm.
Red Fleece Long Johns For Dogs Check Price
Although all of the Christmas pajamas for dogs are simple adorable, if they don’t fit your pooch properly you won’t get any use out of them.
Before you buy PJs for your pet you need to make sure that you measure your dog to see what exact size he needs. Every company is going to have different measurements for sizes so don’t just go off the size clothing you may have bought in the past.
Most pajamas are measured by neck size, chest size and usually length of your dog (neck to base of tail, not including the tail). The chest size should be taken at the widest part of your puppy at the rib cage.
If you find that any of the measurements are in-between two sizes, I would recommend that you size up instead of going down as you don’t want the clothing to be too tight and uncomfortable for your dog.
If you are looking for some other holiday items besides just clothing for your dog, check out some of the cool Christmas themed dog collars as well as the fun Christmas dog toys .
You can go all out for your pooch at Christmas and really celebrate and have fun with your loved pet.
